The “tii” designated a mechanical fuel injection system with a mechanical fuel injection pump. My 1974 had the five mile per hour bumper required in the US. The bumpers stood out from the body by shock absorbers. This hot wheel does not have the 1974 bumper so you are correct in saying it is earlier than 1974. The round tail lights also indicate it is earlier than 1974. My 1974 has rectangular tail lights. The “turbo” introduced by BMW is a “tii” basically outfitted with BMWs turbocharger. Before 1974, BMW had a 2002ti model that was a dual side draft engine. The turbo is the most valuable BMW 2002 often selling for more that 100k these days. The “ti” is probably the next due to is rarity. I thought the tii was the most reliable engine but it was tough getting it to pass smog tests in California.
