2024 Hot Wheels B Case Review

The 2024 B case is here and we have a review on this awesome case! The first car on our radar is the Mazda Autozam. This Legends Tour vehicle features a Texas Toot graphic that our locals are dying to get their hands on! The car also features some teeth on the front grill that get this truck ready to devour the competition! Our next car is the potential super for the B case which we did happen to get. The 2018 Camaro SS comes in an a black paint on black paint scheme with red striping in its regular version. The Super Version swaps the black paint for a Spectraflame Black that looks almost navy. Both cars feature a Hot Wheels flame logo on the front quarter panel. The Super version sports grey 5 spoke wheels as opposed to the black wheels on the regular version. As a Camaro fan I love this car but it won’t be the most expensive or nicely done Super we see this year. Next up we have an awesome highlight in the Nissan Skyline RS [KDR30]. This car features a purple paint scheme with gold and black accents throughout. Gold 10 spoke rims make this car look great! If this was the Super for the B Case, Super of the year would be done already. Just imagining what could have been if this car would’ve been done in Spectraflame but sadly that is not the case. Even still, the R30 is sure to be high on most collectors lists. Our final highlight for the first half of the case is the Honda Civic Si. Gold paint, red interior, and a Carbon Fiber hood makes this car the best thing in B case outside of getting a Super. The civic features some small detailing including a Honda H on the front and rear as well as some headlight detailing. Expect this car to be an expensive buy until C case comes around and more are being circulated.

For the second part of the B case we have a few cars that are sure to add to the appeal of the B case! The Volkswagen T2 Pickup is an awesome casting in this case. It features some VW branding throughout and a metal interior that’s visible on the rear of the vehicle. This car will surely be a hit for those who like the VW brand. Next up we have a recolor of the Corvette featured in the Barbie movie. This time it comes in a matte grey paint job with flame graphics on the side. It’s also good to note that this time the car features a “KEN” license plate. Our next model is the Ain’t Fare bus which also happens to be the treasure hunt for the case. Normally we find 1 Treasure Hunt per case, but for this case we have only found 3 out of the 8 cases we have opened. Not sure if it’s because of the awkward size of the bus or not but this treasure hunt could be a difficult one to find in the wild. The bus features a Hot Wheels World Tour Flame graphic on the side and has an overall rock music aesthetic. This is definitely a unique treasure hunt for the year! Next up,  we have a recolor of the F-150 lightning custom that is pretty nice. The truck features red paint this time around and a grey interior that is more appealing than the chrome interior of its predecessor. F-150 decals are present throughout but the slammed look of this vehicle really sells it. Our final highlight car is another Ford. The 2019 Ford Raptor is a good casting, but the HKS livery is putting this truck on everyone’s radar. The car also features black rims with blue trim that tie together well, but the livery is the real reason everyone will be after this casting.

From an investment perspective, the B case definitely has a lot of bang for your buck. Cars like the R30 and Honda Civic were selling early for over $20 each. While these prices will likely come down, holding onto these castings could be a good idea. As usual, your best ROI will be finding a Super in the wild, but I expect to see the Camaro at around the $40 mark once they are in circulation and prices have settled. Keep an eye on the Ain’t Fare TH. If the scarcity of this casting holds then I could see this casting going up in value to those looking to complete their collections for 2024.

Hot Wheels Car Culture Race Day Review

We recently got in our Hot Wheels Premium Race Day sets so it’s now time for a review. The set features a few good cars and the overall theme of “Race Day” is communicated well by each of them.

  • Starting off we have the Porsche 935 in a Purple and White KW Suspensions livery. The car has a purple flake paint that looks awesome! It also features Porsche branding on the top of the windshield, spoiler, and also the Porsche crest on the front. This car is number 23 as reflected by the decals on the sides and hood. Lastly, a BBS wheels logo is visible on the rear quarter panel of the car. This Porsche also comes with white plastic wheels and rubber tires. There is minimal detailing as far as front and rear lighting. There are lots of Porsche fans so expect this car to be one of the hardest to find out of the bunch.
  • Next up we have the Aston Martin Vantage GTE. This car features an all over high-vis yellow paintjob. The base of the car has been done in a way that the rear of the vehicle looks like it has a diffuser which is an interesting touch. The car feature Aston Martin Racing (AMR) decals across the entire vehicle including the side of the spoiler, top of the roof, rear, hood, and windshield. This car is number 95 represented by its decals on the sides and hood. The Aston also features headlight and taillight detailing. The black rims on this car look much better than some of the plastic ones we have seen on some premiums. This car is potentially the most detailed in the set but for some reason has been sitting.
  • The third car in our set is the Audi R8 LMS. This car features the same great looking wheels that were on the Aston. It comes in a red, white, and blue camo paint scheme but there isn’t much for decals or branding on this car. An Audi R8 LMS logo on the front and Audi Sport #5 decals on the hood and doors are the only visible graphics. The car does however feature a white roll cage that contrasts well to the black interior. Front and rear lighting details also help this car keep the premium feel. The Audi is another car out of the set that will most likely be on pegs a little longer.
  • Fourth we have the Ford Capri Gr.5. It comes in an all over white paint but has an abundance of Ford branding. The Ford logo is shown sporadically throughout the vehicle. The wheels are a metal plastic hybrid that have a nice look to them.  The car does feature front and rear lighting details, but the taillights look less than impressive. This is car #1 as indicated by the decals on the hood and side. Ford fans seem to be gravitating towards this car as it isn’t staying on pegs as long.
  • Our fifth car in the set is the ’94 AMG-Mercedes C-Class DTM Touring Car. This car features an all over yellow paint and black plastic rims. It features Agip, an Italian oil and gas company, decals on the hood and doors. This is car #5 as indicated by the Mercedes-Benz decals on the sides and hood as well as the giant decal on the roof. The grey roll cage also contrasts to the black interior and yellow exterior. My least favorite part of this car is the yellow spoiler on the back which has been done in a yellow plastic as opposed to being metal and matching the body color of the car. The lighting details on this car are much better than some of the others and give the car a more realistic look as long as you ignore the spoiler. The exhaust sticker on the back is also a decent addition. Even with the questionable plastic spoiler, fans are still grabbing this car off the shelves so expect it to be a slightly harder find.
  • Our last car for the set is the one everyone will be looking for, the Porsche 935 chase. This car will come in an all black paintjob with black rims. Contrary to the other cars in this set, this has no real racing decals but does feature Porsche branding and a large number 75 on the doors in honor of Porsche’s 75th anniversary. The car looks clean in black and gold trim and will be the hardest car to find out of the group.

Hot Wheels 2024 A Case Review

The 2024 Hot Wheels A Case has arrived so it’s time for a review! This case has a few good castings as a great way to start the year. First off,  we have a non-car diecast and it’s the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. This casting has been done before, but its nice to see it being brought back. Fans of Star Trek will recognize the ship from the original Star Trek series. The Ship also comes with a stand in the shape of the Starfleet insignia which is a very nice touch! Next up we have a new model for 2024 and it’s the Czinger 21C. The car has hypercar styling and comes in a nice blue paint. The real life car drew inspiration from the SR-71 plane that was purpose built to be the fastest plane ever made! The Czinger 21C was also similarly built.  I would love to see this model move to Premium and feature a removeable rear panel to show off the 3D printed work that was done to create this car. Another unique aspect of the car is the seating position which takes inspiration from motorcycles. The driver and passenger sit in line with each  other making the cockpit of this car very narrow. This helps give the car a one of a kind figure. Our next car for the A case is our regular treasure hunt, the ’47 Chevy Fleetline. The car features an overall police vibe to it and has a “Hot Wheels Patrol” treasure hunt symbol on the door. We like the white wall tires and chrome base. It would’ve been nice to see this car feature some sort of lights or siren but we still like the car as is. Following, we have our potential Super Treasure Hunt for the A case and it’s the Ford Escort RS2000. The regular version features a lime green paint job, smoked windows, 5 spoke chrome rims and an RS2000X license plate. The Super will come in a Spectraflame Green with 8 spoke wheels and a very small TH symbol next to the license plate on the back bumper. Our last highlight for the 1st part of the A case is the Ford GT40. This car features an almost two tone black and white paint job. There is some subtle Goodyear and Autolite branding towards the front of the car. I like that the car has mismatched wheel sizes that give it more of a racing look. You can also make out the shape of the engine through the back window which is a nice touch.

Continuing to the 2nd part of the A case we have a few interesting castings to go over. The 2020 Ram Rebel 1500 has a recolor this time around. Its ditching the Coast Guard theme and treasure hunt symbol for a nice and simple white paint job with some black decals. The truck looks clean and definitely fits the factory fresh series well. Up next we have the Monster High Ghoul Mobile. The car features pink rims, a green ooze windshield and spider webbing details. A few more interesting features are the Snake eye headlights and vampire teeth grill. It would’ve been cool to see Mattel add fuzzy monster seats like the ones pictured on the card, but overall this is a neat casting. Continuing with another fantasy casting is the Punk Rod. The black paint and high-vis orange detailing help this car stand out. The car features mismatched rims and supercar styling. The best part about this car has to be the exposed orange exhaust coming out of the back. Overall a great fantasy car from Mattel. Up next is another recolor. This time we have the ’15 Dodge Charger SRT. The car features yellow windows and a HW Airlines theme. With the front windows down,  you get a good look at the interior of the vehicle. Inside features include the drivers dash, entertainment system, cup holder, center console, and gear shift. Although the details aren’t great, it’s nice to see some resemblance of an actual car interior. Finally, we have our last highlight of the case. The recolor of the Mighty K is a great way to finish this case off. The car comes in a silver-blue paint with GWG Surf & Skate decals. It features gold rims and in the bed of the truck has a spare tire, toolbox and even a skateboard. This recolor is great and gives us a different vibe than the previous red version.

From an investment perspective the A case is ok. The Ford Escort Super currently has values around the $80 mark, but it’s still early and we expect this price to come down a bit. The regular treasure hunt will also be worth a little more around $6-8. As for non-treasure hunt castings, the Ford GT40, Ram Rebel ,and even the Star Trek Enterprise will bring a few dollars. Also featured in this case after being carried over from last years Q case is the Barbie Vette, Tooned Porsche, and Volvo Wagon which will be potentially good investments.

Upcoming: Hot Wheels x Daniel Arsham

Hot Wheels and fine art aren’t two topics we typically hear brought up in the same sentence, but an upcoming drop looks to change that. Hot Wheels is partnering up with American artist Daniel Arsham to bring us something we haven’t yet seen from the diecast car brand. Arsham is know for taking modern pieces and giving them a distressed or eroded look. He aims to show his pieces as if they had been dug up sometime in the future. His resume includes collaborations with Adidas, Pokemon, Porsche, IKEA, and Tiffany & Co. With the upcoming collaboration, we’ll be treated to 8 castings done in Daniel’s style. They wont all drop at once but instead be introduced in segments or “Laps” as their being referred to.

Lap 1 gives us a Porsche 930 and a Hot Wheels favorite, the Rodger Dodger. The cars will be made out of Silkstone which will give them a smooth feel but also adds to the weight of the cars. These will be more like sculptures rather than cars to roll around. Each model will also be showcased in an acrylic case with a marbleized base. Both cars are also listed as having Real Rider tires but whether those are rubber tires for rolling or just the type of tire used in the casting is unknown. The Porsche 930 will be cast in white and the Rodger Dodger in Arsham Blue. Both cars look great and we’re excited to see the remaining 6 castings!

Now you may be thinking about where to display these cars should you choose to purchase them and Mattel has you covered. The Super Rally Case debuted in 1968 and in Mattel’s own words “has never been reimagined or reinterpreted – until now”. The case will also be done in Arsham’s eroded style so you’ll have a place to store all your precious new cars.

Lap 1 is set to release on October 27th at 11AM Central time. As of now the only way to get your hands on the Porsche is to buy the case and Porsche as a bundle for $200. While this is higher price point then we are used to, hesitating to buy may cause you to miss out. Looking at Arsham’s previous collaborations and works they have almost always sold out and prices on the secondary market are consistently above retail. If this is something you’ll want in your collection, I recommend getting up early and being as prepared as you can come drop time. It won’t be just Hot Wheels collectors after this drop so be prepared. The Rodger Dodger will retail at $70 and the collaboration will also feature some merchandise including a poster, keychains, patches, and stickers.
