About Trenton

Trenton Hall - Founder and Diecast Enthusiast Trenton Hall is the founder and driving force behind Hallsguide. His journey into the world of diecast began as a childhood fascination, evolving into a lifelong passion. What started as a simple online price list for his personal Hot Wheels collection during his college years in 1998 has blossomed into one of the most trusted and comprehensive resources for diecast collectors worldwide. Trenton's vision for Hallsguide was to create more than just a price guide; he wanted to build a community where collectors could connect, share knowledge, and fuel their passion for diecast. His dedication to accuracy, insightful analysis, and engaging content has made Hallsguide a go-to destination for diecast enthusiasts of all levels. When he's not immersed in the world of diecast, Trenton enjoys spending time with family and working full-time as a computer science teacher and cross country & track coach. He believes that the joy of collecting lies not just in acquiring rare treasures but also in the connections forged within a passionate community. Fun Fact: Trenton also founded Diecast Republic in 2021 as a retail diecast store in Texas and found online at www.diecastrepublic.com

2014s are here 2

The 2014 Series of Hot Wheels are now on the pegs and have their own Price Guide listing here on Hallsguide.com.

The 2014s look to be very similar to the 2013s as far as Series goes.  The 2014 New Models will be scattered throughout the different series and designated with a yellow stamp on the card.  Regular Treasure Hunts will be unmarked other than a small “14” tampo on the car.  Super Treasure Hunts will be similar to last year’s as well.  They will feature Spectraflame paint and Real Rider wheels.

Like 2013, you can expect to find more cars from Popular movies and TV shows.  This year we saw the Enterprise from Star Trek and Flintstone’s Flintmobile.  2014 so far has The Jetson’s Capsule Car and the Love Bug’s Herbie.

Some of the latest 2014s to be released have commanded some pretty high figures on Ebay.  #201 Kool Kombi has gone for $10-15.  #222 Toyota AE-86 Corolla has gone for $15.00.  #30 1990 Honda Civic EF is currently going for an average of $35.  The first one to hit Ebay sold for a staggering $255.  Only time will tell if these new releases will hold their value or if it is simply the hype of new releases in a new year.

First Look: Volkswagen Kool Kombi 1

For all of you Volkswagen fans, we are taking a closer look at the 2013 New Model

This is a shortened drag version of the Volkswagen Kombi.  Kombi comes from the German Kombinationskraftwagen, which means “combination motor vehicle.”  It featured removable rear seats so it could function as a passenger van or cargo vehicle.

Right now, this 2013 New Model has been spotted in 3 variations:

2013-169 Volkswagen Kool Kombi (HW Showroom – 2013 New Model)

  • green $2.00
  • orange $2.00
  • white $2.00

They were very popular when they first came out, sometimes selling  for up to $10 on the secondary market.  They have become more plentiful over time and are now selling for a max of $2.00.

There was an error with no tampos on the white version that sold for $76 on Ebay.  This is a very popular casting due to the popularity of all things VW so errors and variations on this model will tend to command much higher premiums than errors on other models.

First Look: Toyota Supra 3

Today we take a look at the 2013 New Model Toyota Supra.

This Toyota Supra Mark IV design was used from 1992-2002.  The Supra line started in 1978 as a modification to the Celica until becoming it’s own distinct model.  A turbo-charged Supra can take you from 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds.

Even 15 year old Supras can still command a premium on Ebay but you can pick up the new Hot Wheels release for around $2.00.

First Look: Custom Cadillac Fleetwood 3

The Custom Cadillac Fleetwood is our newest featured 2013 New Model.

This new casting features Art-Deco styling and looks to be based on a 1934 V16 Cadillac with a custom Fleetwood body.  Fleetwood was a company of craftsmen who had been building coaches for 300 years before applying their trade to the new and growing auto industry.  Fleetwood was acquired and became a division of Cadillac in 1929.

Right now there are two versions of this release, a black version and a red version.  Both are averaging around $2.00 on the secondary market.  Get your own Custom Cadillac Fleetwood on Ebay now.

First Look: ’13 Ford Mustang GT 4

Here is a look at another 2013 New Model.  This is the HW Racing Series ’13 Ford Mustang.

2013-106  ’13 Ford Mustang GT

This new casting envisions the new Ford Mustang as a drag strip racer.  With 420 horsepower, it could hold it’s own on the drag strip.

Right now there are 3 versions of this model:
White with five spokes
White with red/black PR5 wheels
Blue with five spokes

All versions are valued at $2.00 on the secondary market.

Look for the New Model on Ebay or check out the real deal if you are feeling the “need for speed.”
